Book Review-The Gifts of Imperfection by Brene Brown

“To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody but yourself—means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight—and never stop fighting.” –E.E. Cummings

“Staying real” is one of the most courageous battles that we’ll ever fight.

Brene Brown touches on and goes into depth on the subject matter of imperfection, side by side with the satisfaction that has the possibility to come along with imperfection.   Within the topics of imperfection, Brene Brown focuses on courage, resilience, spirituality, compassion, joy and the connection we need to others. She states, “From the time we are born, we need connection to thrive emotionally, physically, spiritually, and intellectually.”  Additionally she includes topics on joy, happiness and the search for meaning in life. All of these are linked together to encourage each of us to take the leap to live our fullest lives as well as to remember the role hope and resilience play in life. In reviewing this book and my actual reading of this book, I found it a great motivator and a support to engage in life, be proactive and take that creative plunge that is most times held back due to fear.  If you are looking for a book to uplift, encourage and or help make a life decision, this book is definitely a motivator!
